This past week Mid Atlantic Community Church team members have been working hard painting all the classrooms at New Perspectives Academy and building a new 8th grade classroom at the orphanage! They also began building a chicken coop at the new property.
Ephesians 6:12 -“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
I debated even sharing some of the things that happened to us last week incase there was a chance people thought I was complaining or that our house was dirty. But, as I have continued to pray and ask God why these things are happening, I have realized it is okay to share these troubles, but also share with you that God is victorious at the end of this broken life. This life is filled with trials, tribulations and dad-gum pesky bed bugs. As believers we know these things, but sometimes we fail to show transparency and act like life is always grand. Well, it is not always rainbows and sunshines. We have an enemy that prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. So why do we let ridiculous things get us down when we know we have an enemy out there wanting to devour us and kill our joy? We refuse to let these problems (that seem to continue) even affect our joy for one minute. I would be completely lying if I said they have not made us down right tired and ready for a break. But, THEY WILL NOT steal our joy. The devil does not get off that easily.
“A new day will dawn on us from above because our God is loving and merciful.” -Luke 1:78
Yesterday Chase started his day leaving for Port-au-prince at 8 a.m. Every time we go to the big city, it tends to turn into an unwanted adventure. Yesterday was no exception!
Chase had a list of things to accomplish before heading to the airport to pick up a team. One was to see if the store we bought our generator from would honor their warranty on it because our generator broke the day before and began putting out to much power (in Kimmey terms ;)). We only lost a fan, Sweet PE’s sound machine (thumbs down on that one!) and a few surge protectors before Chase realized what was going on. The damage could have been far greater, so we praise the Lord it did not get our big appliances! Chase had to negotiate with the people to get them to agree to fix it. But, they did agree… Praise the Lord!
Last week Willowbrook Baptist Church came taught, served, and loved on our kiddos in some mighty ways! It was a blessing to have some friends in country and to get to make some new friends.
Their team worked hard to spruce up an old building, on the new property, that will be used for children’s church in the coming weeks. Currently the children have to stay super quiet during their Sunday school classes to not disturb the sermon. And one thing is universal for children… that is incredibly hard for them to do! So they will move from learning at the guest house/church to a fun new spot on the new property for Sunday School. It is going to be great to have them already learning on the new property! I do not know what I was expecting from the team, but their work exceeded my expectations! Look how great it looks!!
